Today is a Day of Rest from all that WE think matters. It is a day to really seek the LORD for Peace, Healing, and Direction. Our Heavenly Father put this decree to use himself.
Genesis 2:2
By the seventh day God had finished the work he had been doing; so on the seventh day he rested from all his work.
We have to understand that there is a time for everything. One should not toil and not enjoy the spoils for that would be in vain. One should not have a family and have no time to cultivate it for that is a sure way to destruction.
For the true reward from one’s work is to sit back in amazement of what has been planted thus far.
We allow the enemy to influence our deadly habits of work, and we never consult the Father for what we say we are working for. We serve a loving Father that according to John 10:10 sent his son for us to have life and more abundantly.
If we are exhausting ourselves in what we do for a living we have to ask,
“Who are we laboring for?”
Yahweh himself knew that more work was needed to be done, but sometimes we have to rest to gather back what we have already put out. Sometimes we have to know what to Work for and what to Pray for. These two require more or less physical posturing and is limited by the source it yields from.
Genesis 1 1-9
1. In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. 2. Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters.
3. And God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light. 4. God saw that the light was good, and he separated the light from the darkness. 5. God called the light “day,” and the darkness he called “night.” And there was evening, and there was morning—the first day.
6. And God said, “Let there be an expanse between the waters to separate water from water.” 7. So God made the expanse and separated the water under the expanse from the water above it. And it was so. 8. God called the expanse “sky.” And there was evening, and there was morning—the second day.
9. And God said, “Let the water under the sky be gathered to one place, and let dry ground appear.” And it was so. 10. God called the dry ground “land,” and the gathered waters he called “seas.” And God saw that it was good.
In our own life we should be like our Father able to work at certain things and see the fruit of it, and able to pray for other things and see it spring forth into existence. Wisdom has to occupy us daily to execute the Plan and Purpose for our life. In verse two it stated: “the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters.” Our Father was deciding how to execute his plan for it, and what would be its good use for the earth and its occupants.
Far more than we would like to admit we do things for self, and not for Yahweh. We do things to have an outward appearance of accomplishments but GOD is not present in it. Yahweh did not execute his plan and purpose until the second day, but he did address what he could do on the first day.
Yahweh is omniscient and he does things in divine order. When we do not rest we tend to pick up where we left off, and it leaves room for error. (Changes could have been made, other things needed to be considered over looked)
Yahweh had a second phase to the day and night Purpose:
Genesis 1 14-19
14. And God said, “Let there be lights in the expanse of the sky to separate the day from the night, and let them serve as signs to mark seasons and days and years, 15. and let them be lights in the expanse of the sky to give light on the earth.” And it was so. 16. God made two great lights—the greater light to govern the day and the lesser light to govern the night. He also made the stars. 17. God set them in the expanse of the sky to give light on the earth, 18. to govern the day and the night, and to separate light from darkness. And God saw that it was good. 19. And there was evening, and there was morning—the fourth day.
What are we trying to create in our own life that we can speak into existence through prayer for it to line up with the will of Yahweh?
Yahweh had us on his mind from the beginning in every way, and his decree to observe the Sabbath is no different.
Mark 2:27-28
And Jesus said to them, The Sabbath was made on account and for the sake of man, not man for the Sabbath; 28. So the Son of Man is Lord even of the Sabbath.
If we cannot see what we are toiling for in a period of time without rest, than we have fell in a deadly habit of just laboring without yielding Godly results.
Be Well In Jesus Name!
